DJI today introduced the Osmo Mobile 3, a compact 3-axis gimbal for smooth video recording with smartphones (iOS/Android) with some new features. The biggest improvement over its predecessor is probably the fact that it is not only much smaller and lighter (405g instead of 485g), but is now conveniently collapsible for transport (including smartphone for faster setup).
The DJO Osmo Mobile3 is controlled by the integrated controls in the handle and the smartphone, which is connected to the Gimbal via Bluetooth. Almost all functions of the Osmo Mobile 3 can be called up with just one hand using the joystick and key combinations. For example, the built-in mini joystick can be used to move the smartphone slowly and selectively, or the integrated zoom control can be used to control the smartphone&s zoom function.

The Osmo Mobile 3 gets intelligent features with the Mimo App, such as the intelligent object tracking ActiveTrack 3.0, the recording control (e.g. for Selfies or group photos) by gesture control, slow motion, automated (3x3 or 180°) panorama shots, dolly zoom drives, the recording of hyperlapse time lapse drives, which can be combined with object tracking or the story mode, which offers templates with automated gimbal movements, music, filters and other effects. The finished videos can also be edited in the Mimo app and shared on social networks on the web.
DJI has also learned from the mistakes of the Osmo Mobile 2 and has now added a trigger button to the Osmo Mobile 3 that allows you to quickly switch between the different gimbal modes (e.g. Free, FPV, Follow, Recenter, Lock etc.), but also to activate the sport mode or ActiveTrack. In addition, the charging port and the headphone socket of the smartphone are no longer blocked by the new folding design, so that it is possible to use the microphone or charge the mobile phone while working with the Osmo.

The angle between cardan joint and handle has been changed to 15 degrees, which makes holding more comfortable. Balancing has also become easier, and unlike previous Osmo Mobile models, the Osmo Mobile 3 only requires adjusting the roll axis, resulting in a much faster set-up. The sports mode has been redesigned from the ground up, with optimized algorithms for even better shooting of fast scenes.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 is now available for 109 Euro, there is also a combo version including tripod handle and transport case for 129 Euro.
