The latest version 11 of FXhomes video editing and compositing software Hitfilm Pro brings some interesting new effects: Inner and Outer Glow, Dehaze, Exposure Pro, Surface Studio and Distance Field. The biggest innovation is probably the "Surface Studio" effect based on the
Damage and Decay VFX and the
Cinematic Title Design tutorial for After Efects CC by Andrew Cramer (VideoCopilot). This makes it easy to place smooth or coarsely structured metallic and glassy surfaces on any text or layer.
The Exposure Pro Plugin offers an easy to use user interface to apply exposure effects to Hitfilm projects and to edit colors selectively. The Dehaze plugin can also be used to clear up foggy shots and to work out details as well as to add artificial fog to videos to create a certain atmosphere.
The new Inner and Outer Glow plugins create a smooth glow effect to create layers and adjust the size and color of the glow effect.
With the Distance Field effect you can create a grayscale map in which each pixel is colored according to its distance from the edges of a layer. Together with luminance keying, the coloring tools can be used to remappen black and white to enhance the gloss or shadow of images.
Here is the
detailed list of new features of Hitfilm version 11.
Hitfilm for macOS and Windows costs about 300 Euro and includes 12 months of free updates. However, Hitfilm is still available until December 4th as part of the Thanksgiving Sales with a 33% discount for only around 200 Euros (the discount also applies to all other FXhome tools such as the compositing program Imerge Pro, the VFX package Ignite Pro and the new animation software Action Pro).
