LG will unveil its new UltraFine Display Ergo AI monitor (32UQ890) at IFA 2022, which has a novel useful feature: it independently adjusts to the user&s current position using a special proprietary camera and AI algorithm to provide the optimal ergonomics in each case.
The 31.5-inch LG 32UQ890 with Ultra HD 4K resolution not only changes its position to match the user&s sitting posture, but also detects when the user remains in one posture for too long - in which case it subtly modifies its orientation to motivate the user to adopt a posture that is healthier for the back. To this end, it not only automatically changes its height (between 0 and 160 mm) but also its inclination (from -20º in front to +20º in back). Both the user&s body and sitting posture are analyzed.
The ergonomic change of the monitor&s position can be done in three modes (AI Motion, Continuous Motion and Periodic Motion) - in the first one, the user&s eye level is continuously tracked in order to constantly adjust the display to it.

But even apart from this gimmick, the LG 32UQ890 offers interesting technical data, such as 95% coverage of the professional DCI-P3 color space as well as support for HDR playback via the HDR10 standard. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, the gray to gray response time is 5 ms, and the contrast ratio is 1,000:1.
The LG 32UQ890 can, of course, also be manually adjusted in its position, i.e. adjusted in height, rotated sideways by 270° and tilted forwards and backwards. Its interfaces include a DisplayPort 1.4, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a USB 3.0 hub. A handy feature is the included remote control for controlling settings.
It will be interesting to see if LG&s new active Ergo feature both works as advertised and provides better workstation ergonomics (especially for long sessions in front of the screen), but is also unobtrusive to the user (so it&s quiet and not distracting, for example).
The price is not yet fixed (rumors speak of around 1,000), nor is the release date - but the LG 32UQ890 will be seen at the IFA 2022 in Berlin.
