The camcorder is dead? According to Panasonic, this is by no means the case, because just in time for the CES 2018, the Japanese are presenting three new models in the classic form factor, all of which have a new similar core. The new trends include a larger sensor, an improved image stabilizer and more manual control options.
Two similar 4K top-of-the-range models (VXF11 and VX11) will be launched in March and are located above
VXF999, which will remain available.

Thanks to the greatly enlarged 1/2.5-inch sensor with BSI technology and a native 4K resolution, the new models are expected to operate significantly better than their predecessor generation two years ago. A new LEICA 24x zoom lens with 25mm kb wide angle and an initial aperture of F1.8 (up to 4.0) has been integrated for this purpose. In HD, the zoom can be increased intelligently and practically lossless to 48x, with limitations in 4K to 32x.
In addition, a new image stabilizer should achieve even better results when filming from the hand by using ball bearings (instead of "rods" in the past).
The more expensive VXF11 for 999 Euro differs from the VX11 (799 Euro) by an additional viewfinder and a manual lens ring with two additional buttons.

However, 4K with 50p still do not master the new models. The German press release only talks about 4K with 25p (max 72 Mbit) and 50p with FullHD (max 50Mbit) on an SD card slot. The battery life for 4K images should be just 45 minutes and the display resolves with a relatively thin 460,800 pixels.

The new V808 also features very similar data to the smaller VX11, but is also limited to FullHD/50p recording. It seems to be based on the same hardware as the two new 4K models and costs only 599 Euros.
