The optical setup comprises 17 lenses in 12 groups, including one SLD element. A Super-Multi-Layer-Coating (SML) is used to minimize ghost images and reflections. Imaging errors such as coma and color fringes are also to be reduced.
The aperture consists of 9 lamellas, the manual aperture ring can be optionally unlocked. The lens is equipped with a Hyper-Sonic-Motor (HSM), which is supposed to guarantee a high-precision and smooth AF operation. A focus range limiter allows to preselect or limit the working range of the AF. The lens also has an AFL button to which certain functions can be assigned.
The macro tele is weatherproof and measures 74 mm x 133.6 mm (filter diameter 62 mm) with a weight of 715g. It will be available from the end of October for 749 Euro.
