New Update: Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 20.2.2 Improves Color Management and Fixes Bugs

[09:51 Wed,15.October 2025   by Rudi Schmidts]

Just a month ago, Blackmagic released update 20.2.1, which optimized immersive workflows and compatibility with ProRes RAW and Sony ARW – now the next, slightly smaller installment is already here. The new DaVinci Resolve 20.2.2 brings improved color display on Mac and addresses a range of issues, particularly on the Fairlight and Edit pages. This update should therefore be highly recommended for all users of Resolve 20.2.1.

An important improvement affects Mac users: Viewer color management for the Rec.709 standard has been enhanced, which should lead to a more precise and reliable color display. Additionally, on the Fairlight page, issues with choppy playback that could occasionally occur have been resolved.

Furthermore, the new version prevents trim edits from sometimes removing linked audio and ripple deletions from occasionally unlinking clips. In addition, the AI function "IntelliScript" now also works with multicam clips, which facilitates text creation from audio transcripts in more complex projects.

Other under-the-hood improvements include: The "Apply Grade from Clip" function now respects the node stack setting, and when transcoding EXR to ProRes, the immersive metadata range is no longer lost. For developers and power users, the Scripting API now offers support for setting the media storage location during project creation, as well as for querying and applying Fairlight presets.

Here's an overview of all new features in DaVinci Resolve (Studio) 20.2.2:

* Improved Mac Viewer color management for Rec.709 Scene.
* Addresses issues with choppy playback on Fairlight.
* Fixes trim edits sometimes removing linked audio.
* Fixes ripple deletions sometimes unlinking clips.
* AI IntelliScript now works with multicam clips.
* Fixes "Go to mouse cursor" not working in Cinema Viewer.
* Fixes an issue with renaming generators in the Inspector.
* Fixes a crash with some ripple trim operations on the Edit page.
* "Apply Grade from Clip" now respects the node stack setting.
* Fixes audio stuttering issues with some MP3 files.
* Fixes R3D artifacts when using Motion Blend.
* EXR to ProRes transcodes no longer lose immersive metadata.

* Scripting API: Support for querying and applying Fairlight presets.
* Right-clicking media metadata allows copying file metadata values.
* General performance and stability improvements.

As with previous versions, this update remains free for owners of a valid license, even though Blackmagic has previously hinted that this will not remain the case indefinitely.

Users can find the corresponding downloads for Windows, macOS, and Linux on the Blackmagic website as of now. iPad users must update via the App Store as usual.
