New dummy adapters from SWIT for NP-F, LP-E6 and NP-FZ100 batteries

[09:37 Mon,14.July 2025   by Thomas Richter]

The battery specialist SWIT has introduced a range of new USB-C power solutions for video production in the form of dummy adapters. The new adapters are aimed at users of mirrorless cameras, DSLRs and accessories that draw their power from NP-F, LP-E6 and NP-FZ100 batteries. They enable users to supply power to cameras in a standardized way via USB-C Power Delivery (PD), for example, mobile with a power bank.

The following four models are new:
- DB-FZ100: Dummy battery for Sony cameras with NP-FZ100 battery mount
- DB-E6P: Dummy battery for Canon cameras with LP-E6 battery mount
- DB-DF570: Dual dummy battery for two NP-F devices
- BC-PD100: Bidirectional D-Tap-to-USB-C converter

All dummy batteries have a USB-C PD power supply that supports various voltage profiles (9V/12V/15V/20V). This allows the devices to be operated flexibly via USB-C power supplies or power banks. The output voltage is regulated to ensure a safe power supply to the cameras.

Dummy Adapters - Why?

Dummy adapters replace real batteries in cameras by replicating their interfaces to the camera, but drawing power via USB-C from an external power source instead of via an integrated battery. This enables both a temporary power supply, for example via a USB-C power bank or V-Mount batteries, and a permanent power supply via a power supply unit - ideal for longer operations such as live streams, studio recordings or time-lapse projects. This eliminates the need to change batteries and interruptions during operation are avoided. Modern models with USB-C support flexible voltage profiles and make the application even more universal.

DB-E6P for Canon LP-E6-compatible cameras

The DB-E6P dummy adapter delivers a stable output voltage of 8.4V at up to 3A and supports numerous Canon models (including R5, R6, R7, EOS 5D/6D/7D) as well as the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K/6K. It draws its power via USB-C.

The DB-FZ100 dummy adapter also draws its power via USB-C and delivers 8.4V at 3A. However, it is designed for Sony cameras with NP-FZ100 battery such as the FX3/FX30, A600, ZV, A1, A7 or A9 models.

DB-DF570: Dual power supply via NP-F interfaces

The DB-DF570 adapter allows the simultaneous power supply of two NP-F devices, such as a monitor and radio link. In addition to a USB-C PD input, the DB-DF570 also has a D-Tap input. The output power is 8.4V/8A per channel and 36W via USB-C. An integrated display shows the applied input voltage.

SWIT BC-PD100

BC-PD100: Bidirectional converter for USB-C and D-Tap

The BC-PD100 converter is a particularly flexible tool, as it can supply USB-C devices with D-Tap batteries - or vice versa, it can also charge D-Tap batteries via a USB-C charger. The maximum power is 100W. This allows cameras, tablets or laptops to be operated via V-Mount batteries, for example. The adapter has a 1/4" mounting option for integration into rig systems. However, some regulated batteries (e.g. HB-A290B, LB-SF65C) do not support charging via D-Tap.
