Panasonic has announced firmware updates for three of its Micro FourThirds mirrorless LUMIX G-series cameras - the
GH5S will get firmware version 2.0 that includes improved autofocus performance as well as the ability to output RAW to an external recorder via HDMI, the G9 will also get firmware version 2.4 that improves autofocus as well as new frame functions, and the G110 will get firmware version 1.2 that adds the ability to turn camera orientation information on or off. The updates will be released on June 9, 2021, at 3:00 a.m. on
corresponding customer support site.

Panasonic GH5S
The new features of GH5S firmware version 2.02h>.
1. improved autofocus performance:
- Eyes and faces can be detected at twice the speed (compared to the current firmware) and people / animals at five times the speed. These objects can be detected even if they appear at about half the size in the image.
- In addition, the tracking and detection performance of autofocus has been improved with the addition of head detection, and human / animal detection can be set to ON or OFF when AF mode is set to[1 Area].
2. output RAW video data via HDMI:
With the new firmware, a 12-bit RAW video signal can be output via HDMI at 4K or anamorphic (4:3) 3.7K resolution and recorded as Apple ProRes RAW using the Atomos Ninja V recorder (with firmware version 10.66). - The Red REC Frame Indicator function has been added.
- It is possible to play back vertical video vertically.
- Users can choose whether or not to add camera orientation information to the Vertical Position Info (Video) menu to prevent unintended image rotation during playback.
- The Video Guide Line function has been enhanced with more options.
2. other new functions
- Power save mode can be selected while the camera is powered by an AC adapter (DMW-AC10 and coupler DMW-DCC12, sold separately).
