Canon has released free firmware updates for some key models in its Cinema EOS series (EOS C500 Mark II, EOS C300 Mark III, EOS C70, EOS R5 C) as well as its professional camcorder line (XA75/70, XA65/60, and VIXIA HF G70). These updates bring new features such as the display of markers during playback, new ways to assign functions to control buttons or the selection wheel, such as a sensor mode selection, and new options for the size of the focus assist area. Currently, the new firmware is only available on the American Canon website. ;) Canon EOS C500 Mark II and EOS C300 Mark III
Details of the firmware updates: Canon EOS C300 Mark III Firmware Version 1.0.8.1- The "Sensor Mode" function can be assigned to a button on the camera body to quickly switch between full-frame, Super 35mm, and Super 16mm crop modes. - Two size options for focus assist: Standard and Large (approximately twice the size of the standard field). - The camera&s LCD screen displays a playback marker in media mode. - New Cinema RAW Light HQ/ST/LT recording modes. - New Auto-ISO/Gain functions that can be operated from the camera menu, an assignable button, or a compatible remote control unit. - Enables the display of markers during playback. - Increases security for FTPS (File Transfer Protocol Security) connections. - Fixes minor issues. This supports the lens correction function in EOS VR Utility Version 1.4 or higher. - Allows assigning the shutter speed option to the top grip dial, top dial, and control ring. - Increases security for FTPS (File Transfer Protocol Security) connections. - Fixes minor issues.
