In addition to the new X-H2S, Fujifilm also unveiled two new lenses for X series mirrorless (APS-C) system cameras yesterday - the XF150-600mmF5.6-8 super telephoto zoom and the XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR universal power zoom.
FUJINON XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR
The focal length range of the FUJINON XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR is KB-equivalent 27-183mm, and the speed is F4 throughout. It is suitable for both still and video shooting and has some of the features of Fujinon's professional cinema film lenses to effectively suppress focus breathing, for example. This is to prevent the image frame from shifting when focusing and to prevent unwanted shifting of focus when zooming.
The lens features a mini-zoom rocker as well as a universal zoom-focus ring that allows changing the focal length or focusing at different speeds; the zoom or focus speed can be adjusted in eight steps. However, this is currently only available with the X-H2S - via a firmware update, this feature should also be available for the FUJIFILM X-T4, FUJIFILM X-T3 and FUJIFILM X-S10 in the future.
Zoom and autofocus are driven by a linear stepper motor. The shortest focusing distance is 46 cm from the front lens over the entire focal length range. The otic construction includes 15 elements in 12 groups (including 3 aspherical lenses, 3 ED lenses), and the aperture is 7-lamellas.
The weather sealed FUJINON XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR weighs 460 grams and is 123.5 mm long with a filter size of 72 mm. It will cost 999 euros and should be available in September.
FUJINON XF150-600mmF5.6-8
The new XF150-600mmF5.6-8 optically stabilized zoom lens covers the focal length range from 150mm telephoto to 600mm super telephoto (equivalent to 229-914mm KB), offering the widest range of any lens available for the X series.
Weighing in at 1,605 grams, the zoom lens is very light for its focal length. The optical design features 24 lenses in 17 groups, including three ED and four Super ED elements, which are said to almost completely eliminate color aberration in super-telephoto shots. All lenses are coated with the HT-EBC coating, originally developed by FUJINON for demanding broadcast use to ensure high transmission and low reflection rates. The aperture consists of 9 blades.
The AF system works internally focused, auxiliary functions like focus limiter and focus preset are available. The closest focusing distance is 2.4m. The lens body is weather sealed.
The FUJINON XF150-600mmF5.6-8 costs 2,199 euros and is expected to be on the market as early as July.
