In 1932, the “Nikkor” brand was created as an adapted version of the Japanese Nikkō (full name: Nippon Kōgaku) for international distribution. The first lenses to bear the Nikkor designation in their name were the “Aero-NIKKOR” lenses, which were developed for aerial photography. According to our information, there were two lenses that went on sale in 1932: The Aero-Nikkor 50 cm F4.8 and the Aero-Nikkor 70 cm F5. ![]()
