Rumors are circulating on the net about the alleged leak of the Nikon firmware roadmap for the two Nikon flagship cameras Nikon Z8 and Z9, according to which Nikon is planning a whole range of exciting video features for its full-frame cameras, among other things. ;) Nikon Z8
One of the most exciting new functions - if they are to come - is likely to be open gate (45MP) recording for anamorphic lenses, whereby desqueeze monitoring in 1.33x, 1.5x, 1.6x, 1.8x, 2x is to be supported. We are also excited by rumors of a new Nikon log format that is supposed to read the sensor better, as well as an 8.3K burst function that is supposed to offer 120 frames per second for 2.5 seconds. ;) Nikon Z9 The full list of new features rumored to be implemented via Nikon&s firmware roadmap reads as follows, according to Nikon Rumors: - 45M 30fps RAW continuous shooting. - Switching the continuous shooting speed. Continuous shooting with free switching between C30 and C120 modes, JPG shooting only. - Pre-capture continuous shooting with RAW. - C60-FX continuous shooting mode. Operates at 60fps, each shot is 45M followed by two shots of 11M in a cyclic loop. Sufficient frame rate to combine high resolution with the ability to capture decisive moments. - A new log curve has been developed for N-RAW that is extremely close to LogC4 to maximize the efficiency of the encoder and capture the original color space of the sensor. - 8.3K 120fps burst video mode with a recording time of only 2.5 seconds. The same high-speed readout mode is used as for photos. - Support for anamorphic lenses. Provides 45Mp Open Gate 3:2 30fps RAW video recording in FX format.
