Nikon adds a classic 85mm F1.8 portrait focal length to its portfolio of full-frame lenses for its new Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 mirror-less full-frame cameras. The new Nikkor Z 85mm 1:1.8 S has a (according to Nikon) almost silent multi-focusing system and offers a close-up limit of 0.8 m.
All moving parts of the Nikkor Z 85mm 1:1.8 S lens barrel are protected against dust and splash water and the new Nikkor lens also offers a welcome function for filmmakers: the Focus Breathing is said to have been largely eliminated. Also interesting for filmmakers could be the adjustable adjustment ring, which can be used for manual focusing (standard) as well as optional aperture settings and exposure correction.
The Nikkor Z 85mm 1:1.8 S has 9 aperture blades and 12 lenses in 8 groups with a corresponding internal focusing system. The filter thread is designed for 67mm filters - the weight is 470 g with approx. 75 x 99 mm dimensions.
Availability and price
The new NIKKOR Z 85 mm 1:1.8 S will be available from the beginning of September 2019 at a recommended retail price of 899.00 EUR.
