After some models of Sony&s top TV models, which cost more than 3,000 Euros, have been equipped with the Netflix Calibrated Mode for the first time since last autumn, Panasonic is now following suit and announces an upcoming update for its OLED TVs, which will also enable these models to get a picture as true to the original as possible.
The new "Netflix Calibrated Mode" was originally developed by color experts from Sony and Netflix together and achieves a high color fidelity by calibrating the TVs equipped with it in the same way as the production monitors in Netflix postproduction. This is to ensure that Netflix films are color-calibrated on the TV exactly as intended by the makers (directors/DOPs).
For this purpose, Netflix sends metadata in addition to the image data, with the help of which the television sets can dynamically adapt colours, contrast and moving image reproduction to the respective content. Any content is supported by Netflix - including 4K and HDR content. Netflix Calibrated Mode is now available on the following TV models, the Panasonic GZW2004, GZX1509, GZN1508, GZF1507, GZT1506, GZW1004 and GZW954 series OLED TVs, which offer both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. And on the OLED models Sony Bravia KD-65AF9 and KD-55AF9 as well as the two LCD models Bravia TV KD-75ZF9 and TV KD-65ZF9.
