Panasonic has just introduced its new wide-angle zoom LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 for its full-frame S series (L-mount), which according to Panasonic has also been designed for video applications. The new wide-angle zoom consists of 11 elements in 9 groups and uses 2 aspherical lenses and 3 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses.
Panasonic explicitly points out for the video context that the focus breathing has been reduced to a minimum with the new wide-angle zoom. We find the compact design and especially the weight of just 350g no less interesting for video applications. Thus the LUMIX S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 weighs only about half the weight of the universal zoom LUMIX S 24-105mm / F4.0 and should thus become the new standard lens for video users, especially for gimbal shots.
The close-up limit is 0.15 m (maximum magnification 0.43 times), the aperture consists of 9 blades and the filter diameter is 67 mm.
