Panasonic has filed a very exciting patent in the USA under the name "Imaging Apparatus", which is currently receiving a lot of attention on the web. It concerns a variable ND filter integrated into a DSLM. A number of details of patent no. 20230262306 are remarkable: ![]()
The patent shows a schematic camera drawing that strongly reminds of Panasonic&s S1/S1H models. As a flagship camera series, a corresponding ND filter should fit very well into the Panasonic S series, both in terms of the Panasonic portfolio and the size ratios. ![]() Furthermore, in the so-called DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS the following rather exciting note can be found: "In the case of the present embodiment, the first optical filter 26 is an electronic ND filter such as a liquid crystal filter, whose light transmittance can be changed. The light transmittance of the first optical filter 26 is changed by changing the driving voltage applied to the first optical filter 26. " Which means that this should be a (stepless variable ND filter on LCD basis, whose light transmittance is controlled via applied voltage. We are very pleased to see that Panasonic seems to be tackling innovative and user-requested functions for DSLMs with a lot of power and verve. A Vario-ND integrated into a DSLM has the potential to change the cards in the DSLM sector. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Panasonic S1H Nachfolger mit integriertem ND-Filter?
