Panasonic is expanding the LUMIX S system with a super-telephoto zoom that extends the series& focal length range to 500 mm for the first time – and even to a combined focal length of up to 1000 mm with the help of an optional teleconverter. The LUMIX S 100–500mm F5–7.1 O.I.S. is aimed at photo and video applications with a large distance requirement – such as in the areas of wildlife, motorsport or landscape – and complements Panasonic&s existing telephoto portfolio with more range in a compact design.
Optical Stabilization and Handheld Capability
The optical image stabilization (O.I.S.) works together with the camera&s internal stabilizer (Dual I.S.) and, according to CIPA measurements, is said to achieve up to 7.0 EV compensation performance (at 500 mm in combination with the LUMIX S1R).

Autofocus and Drive
A dual-phase linear motor is designed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus that, in combination with Dual I.S. image stabilization, supports handheld shooting. This combination is said to compensate for up to 7.0 stops. In addition, the LUMIX S 100-500mm offers features such as focus breathing suppression, bokeh throughout the zoom range, and micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure transitions.
