Philips (or MMD) has unveiled the 498P9Z, the successor to its super-wide 49" Curved 5K monitor 499P9H, which features a number of improvements over its predecessor. Like its predecessor, the new Philips 498P9Z features a 5K (5,120 x 1,440 pixels) resolution VA panel in a 32:9 format, replacing two 16:9 QHD displays with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 each. ;) Philips 498P9Z
For working with video, such a large desktop area is always helpful for displaying multiple windows for e.g. the source material, preview, timeline or effect menus in an editing program. To be easy to see for users with its width of 124cm it is slightly curved with a radius of 1800R. Color space coverage is largely the same as the previous model with 91% of the professional DCI-P3 color space as well as 122% of the sRGB, 100% of the NTSC and 89% of the Adobe RGB color space. Improvements over the previous model include an increase in the maximum refresh rate (to 165 Hz including Adaptive Sync technology instead of the previous 70 Hz without) and the brightness, which is now 550 nits instead of the previous (already above average) 450 nits. All these features also secure the 498P9Z a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification for displaying HDR content. ;) Philips 498P9Z The interfaces of the 498P9Z now consist of three HDMI 2.0 as well as one DisplayPort 1.4 (the USB-C port of the predecessor has unfortunately been dropped), via HDMI 5K can be displayed with a maximum of 75 HZ, via the DisplayPort with the maximum 165 Hz.
