Finnish photographer Antti Karppinen uses a brand campaign to demonstrate how image AIs could change the work of professional photographers in the future. Karppinen has been experimenting with the possibilities offered by image-generating AIs for over a year and has developed his own workflow for photos created by combining real photoshoots with AI images. ![]() Photos of the campaign
The first step of the production is still quite traditional: Karppinen shoots some photos of his models on location - quite informally and without much effort. These - about 20 photos per model - then serve as individual training material for the AI (presumably Stable Diffusion) via ![]() ![]() Photoshooting of the training daen Below are some of the photos taken for the project that will soon be seen on the streets and buses in Finland, as well as photos from the training shoot. It&s interesting to see how the training photos didn&t require any green screen or special lighting - the AI still has no problems recognizing the faces and creating an internal model of each of them, which allows it to display the respective face - even from a different perspective and with a completely different lighting - in any prompt-generated environment. The resulting images are still not perfect, but thanks to the rapid AI development, the quality of the images should quickly improve in the future. ![]() Photo of the finished brand campaign Once the new AI model for a person has been created - which can also be done using a series of selfies - no new photo shoots are necessary. This means that the same models can be used for other campaigns without having to take new photos. The photographer, in collaboration with an image AI, becomes a creator who can produce new images guided by his imagination and is no longer constrained by the need to use or build settings for his photos in reality. ![]() Photo of the finished brand campaign With the help of image AI, he can create any realistic rooms in a very special design as well as natural landscapes and place his models there for a virtual photo shoot. Filmmakers, however, will have to wait a little longer for such possibilities of AI tools due to the higher complexity of moving image shooting, but they will have to wait a little longer. ![]() deutsche Version dieser Seite: Foto-Shooting plus KI: Schaut so die Zukunft der Fotografie aus? |
