PortKeys, the Chinese manufacturer known for its monitors for some time, has introduced two new field monitors with 7" displays at NAB 2023, the LH7P and the BM7 Ⅱ DS, as well as a new 21.5" production monitor, the MT22DS 21.5″. The two 7" field monitors feature remote camera functions, which are designed to control a whole range of central camera functions for RED, Sony, Canon, Panasonic and Blackmagic cameras via WiFi, or Bluetooth directly on the monitor. ![]()
These include functions such as REC, iris, zoom, focus, shutter, ISO, codec, WB, and more. However, the two field monitors differ greatly in the cameras they support. The BM7 II DS (dollar price 899,-) offers the most comprehensive camera support. Here is the (long) list of supported cameras including wireless functions: ![]() The most important features of the BM7 Ⅱ DS also include: Custom JPG Picture Freeze Frame, Split Screen Monitoring, 3D LUT HDMI Output, Wired Control Tilta Nucleus-N/M Motors, CNC Aluminum Alloy All-metal Shell, Wired control of RED cinema camera, Anamorphic Lens Calibration, HDMI to SDI Output, False color and ARRI False color. Thanks to two HDMI interfaces (In and Out) as well as three SDI (1x SDI Out, twice SDI In), the monitor can also function as an HDMI to SDHI (HD) converter. The LH7P monitor, on the other hand, which is much cheaper at and is designed exclusively for HDMI, supports "only" Sony and Blackmagic cameras with wireless functions.
