Wise Advanced has introduced two new SSD series for professional video production: the Archive Desk Drive (ADD) for stationary use at the editing suite and the Portable SSD 8K for direct recording from the camera. Both utilize USB4 for data and power supply and offer high constant write speeds for video recording. ;) New Wise SSDs
Wise Archive Desk Drive (ADD) USB4 Desktop SSDThe  Archive Desk Drive utilizes TLC NAND memory and is specifically aimed at video editors and DITs who need to move large amounts of data or archive intermediate results. The 65 × 125 × 23.1 mm aluminum casing with cooling fins (approx. 285 g) is designed for quiet continuous operation and is intended to deliver thermally stable performance. This ensures a stable write performance of at least 2,000 MB/s (up to 3,000 MB/s maximum) and up to 3,500 MB/s read performance, even when transferring many TB of video, without heat-induced slowdown. ;) Wise Archive Desk Drive The high speed is enabled by the USB4 port (with USB-C connector), which conveniently also powers the drive, thus eliminating the need for an additional power connection. Wise offers the Archive Desk Drive with capacities of 2 TB, 4 TB, and 8 TB. It is expected to be available from December – the price has not yet been announced. Wise Portable SSD 8K: Designed for the CameraThe Wise Portable SSD 8K is designed as a compact media replacement/extension for digital cinema cameras. According to Wise, its high reliability as a recording medium is ensured through close collaboration with Blackmagic and their stringent compatibility tests. To be used seamlessly in camera rigs, the Portable SSD 8K is relatively small (30.7 × 68 × 11.5 mm) and light at 38 grams. Power and data transfer are handled via USB4 (USB-C port). The specified temperature range (0–70 °C operating, −40–85 °C storage) is designed for outdoor and on-set operation. ;) Wise Portable SSD 8K The performance of the Portable SSD 8K varies significantly by capacity: the 1 TB model achieves a minimum sustained write speed of 700 MB/s, while the 2 TB and 4 TB models reach 1,500 MB/s. This performance ensures seamless recording with all video codecs of the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K and also the PYXIS 12K (such as Blackmagic RAW 12K 3:2 (Open Gate)). The maximum read speed for all models is 3,900 MB/s, and the maximum write speed is 3,500 or 3,600 MB/s, respectively.
