For those who use an iPhone to record videos for social platforms like TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels using a RØDE microphone, RØDE has released a new, free app called Capture. The app lets you record videos while also directly adjusting settings for external microphones to achieve optimal sound quality. In addition to adjusting audio levels, functions can be turned on and off, digital signal processing can be enabled, and more.

RØDE Capture for iOS
Filming is possible with RØDE Capture in 720p, FullHD or 4K at 24, 30 or 60fps. There don't seem to be any exposure settings, but different aspect ratios can be selected for video recording (16:9, 4:3, 1:1), and a dual camera mode is also supported, where the selfie camera is active in parallel to the main camera. The two pictures can be displayed via split screen or picture-in-picture, or alternatively as separate files.
This feature is especially aimed at using the new
Wireless ME, a small wireless system, which includes a microphone in both the transmitter and receiver. In the case of an interview recorded via iPhone, it can be used to film and record sound both in front of and behind the camera.
Capture for iOS is offered free of charge and supports the following RØDE microphones: Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, VideoMic NTG, VideoMic GO II, AI-Micro, NT-USB+.
