The newly annouced Generation II RØDE VideoMic Go is still aimed at filmmakers, but this time it&s also suitable for podcasting and live streaming, because like the VideoMic NTG, it has both a 3.5mm jack and USB-C output. It can therefore be easily connected to a smartphone, tablet or computer. If the microphone is operated in USB mode, the mini-jack can be used as a headphone output. ![]() RODE VideoMic GO II The VideoMic Go II offers a distinctive polar pattern (supercardioid) and is extremely compact and portable. It weighs only 89 grams and measures 15cm in length. It does not bring its own power supply, but is powered accordingly by the connected device.
The acoustic design for the VideoMic Go II was taken from the NTG5 broadcast shotgun microphone (as with the VideoMic NTG). A 24-bit/48 kHz audio interface is built in. The companion app, RØDE Central, allows users to adjust settings such as input and headphone levels, turn direct monitoring on/off (mobile devices only), and activate the high-pass filter and more. There are no buttons or controls on the microphone itself, the operation is designed for Plug&Play. The VideoMic Go II is also compatible with ![]() ![]() The red Rycote swing mount is suitable for camera mounting with the built-in hot shoe adapter, but also has a 3/8" thread to attach the microphone to a tripod or boom. Audio connection to the camera is via the included 3.5mm TRS cable, and a foam windscreen is also included.
