Samyang provides firmware updates for two of its lenses, which are or may be specifically relevant for videographers, depending on the camera used. Firstly, the v.2 of the AF 35mm F1.8 FE for Sony E is intended to reduce the volume of the autofocus in AF-C mode when shooting video.
On the other hand, the AF 85mm F1.4 for Canon RF will be updated to version 3. With this update the lens supports the camera internal image stabilizer IBIS on the EOS R5 and EOS R6 models. In addition, the performance of high-speed continuous shooting (H / H+) has been optimized.
The updates are free of charge, but a so-called Samyang Lens Station is required to install the software on the lenses. It is screwed to the lens like an adapter and then connected to a computer via USB. For each mount there is a separate lens station, costing about 80 Euro.
