Samyang has revised its telephoto lens MF 135mm F2.0 ED UMC - the new Samyang AF 135mm F1.8 FE has become a bit faster with an F1.8 and above all now also offers autofocus. This works with a linear stepper motor (LSTM) and should also be suitable for video recording. The optics is designed for mirrorless full-frame system cameras and is only available for Sony E Mount for the time being.

In addition to autofocus and improved speed, there are several, other new features. The minimum focusing distance has become about 10cm shorter (now at 69cm), also the lens is built more compact and lighter. It weighs 772g with a length of 129.6mm.
In addition, there is now a Focus Hold button for focus lock as well as a Custom Switch for user-specific focus and iris settings. A Focus Range Limiter Switch is also present, offering three settings to limit the focus range of the autofocus to increase search speed. "Full" utilizes the full autofocus range of 69cm to infinity. The second setting "0.69m-2m" limits the autofocus range to between 69 cm and 2 m, and the third option ranges from 1.5m to infinity.
The optical design includes 13 lenses in 11 groups including 6 special lenses (1x U-ASP, 2x HR, 3x ED), which are supposed to effectively correct chromatic aberrations and other aberrations. The aperture consists of 11 blades. The focus ring is now rubberized for a better grip. Samyang Weather Sealing provides multiple weather protection.
The telephoto focal length is suitable for landscape and astrophotography, sports and action shooting, portraits and macro photography, and completes Samyang's F1.8 FE autofocus series, which now ranges from wide-angle to telephoto lenses.
The Samyang AF 135mm F1.8 FE is priced at €949 and is expected to launch on February 7, 2022.
