SanDisk has introduced a new USB-C flash storage series called "Extreme Fit." The company claims that the 1TB capacity model is the smallest storage stick of this format worldwide.
The special feature of the stick is its compact, L-shaped housing. This was designed so that it sits almost flush with the USB-C port of a laptop, protruding only minimally beyond the edge of the casing. SanDisk explicitly promotes the model with this "leave-in design," which is intended to allow the stick to be used as permanent storage expansion for notebooks. The form factor is supposed to prevent the laptop lid from hitting it and simultaneously reduce the risk of breakage during transport.

Technically, the Extreme Fit is based on the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard. SanDisk specifies maximum read speeds of up to 400 MB/s, with only the 64 GB version listed at 300 MB/s. In addition to the 1 TB version, the stick is also available in capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB.
The suggested online shop prices for the SanDisk Extreme Fit start at 11.99 Euros for the 64 GB variant. The 1 TB model, the highlight capacity of the series, is available for 96.99 Euros and should be interesting for users who want to expand the storage space of their Ultrabooks or convertibles easily and permanently.

The "Extreme Fit" might also be recommended as external storage for the iPhone to save video recordings relatively inexpensively—but without annoying cables or a particularly bulky USB stick housing. However, independent user reports will first need to confirm or test whether the mentioned data rates can also be maintained stably over the long term.
