Sony has just announced exciting firmware updates for its FX3, FX30 and FX6 cine cams. With the upcoming 5.0 firmware update, the Sony FX6 will receive a 1.5x de-squeeze function for anamorphic recordings as well as integrated 3D LUT processing, which should ensure a more accurate color representation... ;)
In addition, Waveform and False Color functions are to be added to the Monitor&Control App V2.0, making them available externally for the FX6. Firmware updates have also been announced for the Sony FX3 and FX30. ;) The most exciting new function here is likely to be the ability to use shutter angles on both the FX3 and FX30. At  our FX3 practical test we had put shutter angle (and false color) on our upgrade wish list. It&s nice to see that Sony is now following suit with the Shutterangle function. The firmware updates for the FX3/FX30 in September will also include a clip marking function and live streaming via the Creator&s App. Here are the original Sony firmware announcements: FX6 Version 5.0 Firmware Update - The FX6 Version 5.0 firmware update is expected from May 2024 or later and will include: - The addition of 1.5x de-squeeze function for anamorphic lenses - Integrated high-quality 3D LUT processes to mirror the VENICE cinema camera, which allows for more accurate color processing - Monitor & Control App v2.0 features (ex.
