Extremely fast and with a Large-Format image circle coverage of φ46.3mm - sufficient for ARRI ALEXA LF Open Gate and VistaVision, among others - Sigma's newly announced Aizu cine lens series presents itself. All focal lengths offer a fast aperture of T1.3, providing ample scope for image design with graduated focus.

Sigma Aizu Prime Line
The Aizu Prime Line is designed as a system covering a wide range of focal lengths from 18mm to 125mm. From August, eight core lenses from 25mm to 75mm are scheduled to appear on the market, followed by 18mm and 25mm wide-angle lenses, as well as 100mm and 125mm telephoto lenses. According to Sigma, their optical system was specially developed for cinema applications and is characterized by modern sharpness and a natural, organic look.
You can get your own impression in the following clip; here, the new Aizu lenses were used with the Sony Venice 2 as the main camera and the Sony FX3.
For a uniform look, consistency in color balance, contrast, and flare characteristics is intended across the entire cine lens series.
Distortion and focus breathing should be minimal. Short minimum focusing distances (from 0.31m for the 25mm to 0.73m for the 75mm) make it possible to get correspondingly close to the subject. The rotation angle for focus is 270°, while it is 70° for the aperture setting. The aperture consists of 13 blades.
Also externally, the lenses are matched to each other with a 95mm front diameter, a weight between 1.6 and 1.7 kg, and a length between 125 and 128.8 mm. All these specifications apply to the PL versions; Aizu will also be available for the Sony E-Mount. Those who use Aizu via PL-Mount can work with ZEISS eXtended Data.
Price and Availability
The first eight Sigma Aizu Prime Line lenses are expected in late summer. Sigma itself does not mention prices; however, the British dealer CVP already lists them for approximately 7,000 euros net per focal length.
