The new firmware version 2.00 has been released for the ultra-compact full-frame Sigma fp L camera. It brings some changes that also affect video operation. Among other things, the autofocus performance is said to have been improved ("Constant AF"), while a False Color function has been added as an exposure aid for manual focusing. This makes it easier to read the distribution of sharpness in the image on the display. False Color (as well as screenshot) can also be activated at the touch of a button via a user-defined button assignment. With compatible Sigma lenses, it is also possible to set the behavior of the focus ring between linear or non-linear.

With the new "STILL / CINE Link Settings" function, the most important exposure settings can be optionally linked between STILL and CINE modes (shooting mode, shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, ISO sensitivity). Also, the new firmware allows you to change clip numbering in CINE mode (under "Filename / Number" in the SYSTEM menu).
The algorithm for color shading correction is said to have been optimized. In photo mode, information about the attached lens (focal length and shooting distance) can now be displayed on the screen if desired, and the countdown before a shot in self-timer mode and the exposure time for long exposures also appear on the screen.
Sigma recommends that users of the Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G wait until a correlating update is also released for the Video Assist (this is due in early February) before updating their camera, otherwise RAW recording errors may occur under the v2.00 firmware.
