Boris FX's annual update adds in-house tools to Silhouette, the professional rotoscoping and painting software it acquired several years ago. For example, the Mocha Pro planar tracker has been more tightly integrated - new data ports allow the Mocha Pro node to seamlessly connect to other Silhouette nodes for better tracking and slining workflows. A new PowerMesh Warp Node, for example, is expected to benefit from this integration.
Also included in the 2022 version are over 270 effect nodes from Sapphire, various lens flares, glows and more can be created in Silhouette. Particle animations are also possible via the now included Particle Illusion with 3D emitter and Fluid Dynamics, such as smoke, fire, dust or explosions. Continuum also includes several image-processing filters, including Magic sharp for sharpening, Beauty studio for optimizing skin, etc., and six dynamic blur filters with GPU acceleration.
With InPaint, a new node has been added to quickly remove objects and create clean plates without manual paint work. Also new are a Surface tool to help position and optimize planar tracked inserts, Node Actions to transfer track and shape information between nodes, and a DOD node with track cropping for better render performance.
Furthermore, OpenColorIO v2 is now supported with GPU rendering and improved ACES handling, and (last but not least) native Apple M1 support has been improved, which should be noticeable in terms of speed.
