There is still little official information available, but for the past two weeks more and more videos have been appearing on the Internet about a project called Simulon. This is apparently a tool or an iOS app with which 3D objects can be embedded in normal videos in a particularly realistic way. The following video about Simulon appeared on the web about 2 weeks ago:
As you can see, the tracking and reflections with the environment are pretty well solved. However, this seems to apply not only to static 3D models, but also to moving objects:
In the broadest sense, the results are reminiscent of
Wonderstudio, although Simulon's beta users emphasize that the app should be particularly easy to use.
The Simulon website itself currently only consists of a registration for the beta program, but there are videos on X/Twitter
many more videos to be found - unfortunately recently only after registration on X/Twitter. Also
Simulon itself reveals a little more results on this platform.
Among other things, a short program description can be found somewhat hidden there: "The Simulon Reality Bridge workflow allows developers to create 3D content in Blender for scanned real-world locations. This makes it possible to create highly contextualized VFX shots that interact seamlessly with the world. "
From the looks of it, some basic Blender knowledge certainly won't hurt for Simulon. We are curious to see when Simulon will reveal more details and are also surprised to see that the special effects bar for creators has now been lowered once again.
