Small Rig has launched a new range of camera batteries for Canon Sony and Fujifilm DSLRs, all of which can be charged via an integrated USB-C interface and therefore do not require an extra battery charger (but can be charged using USB-C laptop or mobile phone power adapters). ![]()
The new USB-C batteries cover a whole range of camera models. For Fujifilm it is the XT-4 / GFX 100S / GEX 50SIL / X-H2S / X-H2 / X-T5, for Canon it is the EOS 5D, EOS 5D Mark II, 5D Mark IV, EOS 6D, EOS 6D Mark II, EOS R5 and R5C and many more. And for Sony, Sony Alpha 9 / Alpha 9 II / Alpha 7R III / Alpha 7R IV /Alpha 7 III / Alpha 6600 / Alpha 7R II / Alpha 7S III / and others. Here are the specifications of the individual battery types sorted by camera manufacturer: Canon ![]() Sony ![]() Fujifilm ![]() In addition to the optional omission of a special battery charger, Small Rig also claims a particularly short charging time of only 2.5 hours when charging with so-called high current chargers (5V 2.2A). To show the charge status, each battery has a small red and green integrated LED. If the battery performance is on the same level as comparable batteries, one wonders why others haven&t already come up with this clever idea - in any case, we are already quite excited about the first tests.
