With its new ECM-W2BT wireless microphone set, Sony introduces a compact vlogging microphone solution that should be of particular interest to users of Sony cameras with compatible MI-Shoe. The ECM-W2BT set consists of an MI-Shoe compatible receiver and a clip-on transmitter with integrated omnidirectional microphone.
In addition, the transmitter also offers a 3.5mm stereo mini jack, so that lavaliers can be used as an option. Sony specifies a range of 200m under ideal conditions. In addition, the receiver has a microphone on the back, so that the audio of the cam operator can also be recorded as an option for solo shooters. If you don't have a camera with MI-Shoe capability, you can also connect the receiver to the camera via a mini jack. Sony gives a maximum running time of 9 hours (via MI-Shoe).
With a foot clip, the transmitter mic can also be used as a table mic, which, according to Sony, is also good for picking up several interviewees thanks to its omnidirectional orientation. A small clip-on windscreen is also included as an accessory for outdoor shooting.
Sony has also introduced a new stereo lavalier (ECM-LV) to go with the ECM-W2BT. With its 360° rotatable suspension, it is said to be particularly versatile in terms of placement. A windscreen (foam) is also included in the scope of delivery.
The ECM-W2BT wireless microphone will be available from April 2021 for 239.00 euros RRP, and the ECM-LV1 stereo lavalier microphone will also be available from April 2021 for 34.99 euros RRP.
