Sony has released the new firmware update 4.00 for its full-frame mirrorless camera Alpha 7III (models ILCE-7M3 and ILCE-7M3K), which - in addition to improving the overall stability of the camera - brings a number of new features for transferring via FTP.
With the firmware update, it is now possible to transfer photos - both RAW and JPEG files in RAW+JPEG format - to an FTP server in the background during shooting and playback. There are new options for the transfer, such as the ability to restrict the transfer destination to only transfer protected images or images that are not transferred, or to automatically transfer images while shooting. In addition, the currently played back image can now be transferred by pressing the custom button.

The update also brings some new options for configuring the FTP destination folder, such as the ability to register up to nine FTP servers (instead of 3 previously) or change the destination folder configuration on the FTP server. Improved usability of the FTP transfer feature also makes it possible to set items using the Transfer & Tagging Add-on smartphone application under Server Setting.
