Ahead of IBC, Sony is unveiling new Crystal LED video walls specifically designed for virtual production environments. Dubbed Verona, the modular displays feature newly developed Deep Black and Anti-Reflection surface technology, and are said to significantly reduce the contrast difference between the images on the LED display and the actors acting on set in front of the display. As a result, virtual and real merge to create a more natural image impression. ;) In addition to exceptional black levels and low reflection, VERONA is said to achieve a high brightness of 1,500 cd/m2 and a wide color gamut covering more than 97% of DCI-P3.
It also uses high-performance LED driver ICs (Integrated Circuits) that enable a high refresh rate of up to 7,680 Hz to dramatically reduce scanline artifacts in the camera. The two new models, ZRD-VP15EB/23EB and ZRD-VP15EM/23EM, are available with P1.56mm and P2.31mm pixel pitch. ;) Sony Crystal LED VERONA Panel To help production teams mount the stage size they need, a new 1:1 enclosure has been designed with large handles, locating pins for easy alignment, and a lever-style locking mechanism that can be operated without tools. VERONA adapts to curved, hanging and stacking studio spaces and features sturdy frames to support more weight - screens can be stacked up to 7 feet high. The LED surface and edges are protected by surface technology and various protective mechanisms that keep them from damage during installation. The new Verona panels are compatible with controllers widely used in the industry; the ZRD-VP15EB/23EB works with Brompton Technology&s Tessera SX40, while the ZRD-VP15EM/23EM works with Megapixel&s HELIOS Processing Platform. The power consumption of the new models is said to be lower, about 27% for the ZRD-VP15EB compared to the current ZRD-B15A model.
