The new firmware version 3.00 is now available for the Sony Venice 2 CineAlta camera. In addition to a large number of improvements and enhancements, e.g. in terms of frame rate support, it also includes new recording support functions for virtual productions - when shooting in front of an LED wall with simultaneous classic set lighting, the color reproduction of skin tones can be improved by setting the color temperature of the LED wall and the mixing ratio between the lighting from the LED wall and the actual lighting.

When setting the genlock phase, the changed value will take effect immediately, making it easier to adjust the imaging phase in relation to the light emission from the display.
On the other hand, the range of functions for live productions has also been extended:
- When RM/RCP Paint Control is off (default mode), it is now possible to specify whether the white balance function and the shutter function should be controlled via a remote control, such as the RM-B170.
- When RM/RCP Paint Control is enabled, the look can now be selected as LUT and applied to different video outputs. The use of User 3D LUT is also supported.
- The "Saturation" and "Skin Detail" functions have been added. Configurable in the Paint menu when RM/RCP Paint Control is enabled.
Other improved functions
- When Project Frame Rate is set to 24/25/50, an FPS value of 33.33 can now be set.
- Flickering and juddering of the image on the viewfinder screen when shooting at variable speed (i.e. when FPS is set to Variable) with a Project Frame Rate value of 23.98/24.00 and a frame rate of 60 FPS is said to have been fixed.
- In Imager mode 5.8K 17:9, Zoom to Fit can now be set to 2.39:1 when the de-squeeze ratio is set to 2.0×. This enables high frame rate (HFR) recordings of up to 90 frames per second (FPS), even when recording with an anamorphic lens on the MPC-3628.
- Log(Legal) can now be selected as LUT and applied to different video outputs. This setting allows S-Log3 data within the legal range to be output to external editing devices.
- The peaking display can now be switched on and off via an assignable function key.
- ACES 1.0 Output-Rec.709 can now be selected as LUT and applied to the monitor output video and viewfinder screen video when Input Color Space is set to ACEScct.
- The display of a 2.2:1 aspect ratio marker is now supported.
- File data stored in internal memory such as passwords and User 3D LUTs can now be reset along with menu settings when Factory Reset is performed in the Maintenance menu.
