If you own an Xperia PRO or Xperia PRO-I smartphone and use it as an external monitor with a Sony Alpha camera, you will get some more practical features via a software update. Video from the connected camera can now be streamed live, an option that was already announced at launch and is now finally implemented. Video recordings from the integrated smartphone camera can of course also be sent to the Internet. (This was already possible on the newer Xperia 1 Mark IV).
Furthermore, more exposure guides are available in the monitor mode. In addition, there is a Waveform display that shows the distribution of the luminance and/or RGB values, as well as a False Color Overlay that highlights underexposed or overexposed image areas.

The Xperia PRO, which accepts external input via HDMI, also gets a larger image preview window with all setting values in this mode, from which the recording of the external Alpha camera can also be started and stopped. However, the camera also has to be connected via USB-C for this.
The new features are presented in the following video; the updates will soon be available for download on the respective devices.
