Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G
The effective arrangement of three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and four aspherical lenses, including an aspherical ED lens, is designed to reduce various aberrations such as chromatic aberration and achieve high-resolution performance from the center of the screen to the corners.
The circular aperture with 11 blades together with the optimization of spherical aberration ensure a bokeh typical of G lenses.
The lens is equipped with two linear motors and is designed to achieve fast, precise, trackable and quiet focusing, even with fast-moving subjects. High-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking of up to around 120 frames per second is also supported for the mirrorless full-frame camera α9 III. Sony also promises smooth tracking when recording 4K 120p/FHD240p videos with a high frame rate.
Focusing is linear in manual mode. The minimum shooting distance is 0.18m (wide-angle). Focus breathing should be minimized, the aperture can be unclicked. For maximum image stabilization, the lens is compatible with the "Active Mode" Alpha cameras.
The new FE 16-25mm F2.8 G will be available from May 2024 for around €1,399.
