Sound Devices has introduced the MixPre-10T, a new 12 track audio recorder and mixer with USB interface. The MixPre-10T extends the existing model series
MixPre-3 and MixPre-6 by further tracks and inputs - it can record up to 10 audio tracks (10 x Input + 2 Mix) as polyphonic Wav files with up to 24-bit/192 KHz on SD/SDHC/SDXC card using its 10 audio inputs (8 x XLR/TRS Combo plus 2 x Aux/Mic-In). The audio of the 12 channels can also be streamed via USB with up to 96 kHz sampling rate to Windows or Mac computers.
Each of the 8 XLR inputs has a Class A Ultra-Low-Noise Kashmir microphone preamplifier. A built-in timecode generator and reader supports via BNC, Aux and HDMI time code connections with all common frame rates and timecode modes. The MixPre-10T is operated via the knobs and the bright (320 x 240)1.6" IPS touchscreen in three operating modes - the simple beginner mode for stereo recordings for interviews or a video blog and the advanced and custom mode with the possibility to make multi-channel recordings and functions such as metering, routing, timecode, mic pre gain, headphone presets

The knobs also allow intuitive mixing of the recorded audio. Alternatively, the MixPre-10T can also be controlled via Bluetooth via the corresponding iOS using the Wingman App, which can be used to start and stop recordings, provide metadata and rename tracks. It can also be used to create and organize sound reports.
The recording can also be started or stopped by HDMI flag or time code. Like this feature, the retractable 1/4-20 mount on the housing is designed to mount the MixPre under a camera, specifically designed to work with video DSLRs. With the new Auto (Background Copy function, background recordings can be continuously backed up to a USB stick.
Here the three models in feature comparison. The MixPre-10T draws its power from the mains either via 8x AA batteries or a Sony L-Mount rechargeable battery or via 4-pin Hirose plug. is now available for pre-order and will be delivered from the end of October at a price of around 1,800 dollars.
Sound Devices has also released the new firmware 1.20 for the MixPre-3/6, which gives the MixPre-6 the ability to connect the 4 channels and control the gain, fader, limiter, low cut filter and input delay of all channels synchronously via the knob and displays of the first channel. The update gives the MixPre-3 the possibility to add an input delay of 1-30 ms (in steps of 1 ms) to channels 1,2 and 3 (the MixPre-6 already has this function).
