The successful storyboard artist Rob McCallum tells in this interview about his work. He has created storyboards for films such as "IT", " Pacific Rim", "Total Recall" and "Ghost in the Shell" or series such as "Killjoys", "Reign" or "Star Trek: Discovery". Rob McCallum came from comics - he drew for Marvel - to storyboarding. Actually a logical way, from a narrative and visual point of view.

For example, it answers the question of what kind of scenes storyboards are used for. Especially for elaborate stunt or VFX scenes starting designs via storyboard are indispensable, because they are cheap and easy to make and are the basis for the later implementation by the different departments - be it via camera and/or animation. Often the final scenes in the film are very close to the storyboards - for example, the beginning and end sequence in Pacific Rim corresponds almost exactly to the storyboard design.
