More news in the PowerShot segment: the Canon SX70 HS super zoom bridge camera also gets the DIGIC 8 processor and a 4K UHD video function after the
small SX740. It films at a maximum speed of 29.97/25 fps, in Full HD it makes 59.94/50/29.97/25 fps. Compared to the SX60, the new 1/2.3-inch type BSI CMOS sensor has a higher resolution, with 20.3 MP instead of 16.1, which is not necessarily an advantage in the video sector (key point: light intensity).
The optical zoom is 65x, which equivalent to KB results in a focal length range of 21 - 1365mm, speed 1:3.4-1:6.5. As a nice add-on, the SX70 offers a macro mode (close-ups from zero centimeter distance). Image stabilization is also available (Lensshift system, Intelligent IS).
An electronic OLED viewfinder of the 0.39-inch type with approx. 2.36 million pixels and a 7.5 cm rotatable and swivelling LCD (TFT) with approx. 922,000 pixels are on board for image evaluation. A remote live image view as well as control via smartphone works thanks to integrated WLAN. The camera weighs approx. 600g.
The Canon PowerShot SX70 HS will cost 549 Euro and be available from November.
