Tamron continues to expand its full-frame AF wide-angle zoom portfolio. After the powerful SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD with a constant F2.8, which additionally has image stabilization (but also weighs 1.1 kg), Tamron claims the 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD to be the most compact and lightest wide-angle zoom in its class.
With just 460g and a length of approx. 90mm, it is definitely one of the compact lightweights of its class. The low weight is made possible among other things by omitting the stabilization unit.
Further technical details of the Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD include a continuous close distance of 28cm, a filter diameter of 77mm and a 7-blade aperture. In addition, Tamron points to special lens coatings that are to be optimized primarily for the wide-angle range.
For us, the Tamron reads like another candidate for use with focal reducers on the gimbal - here we are already looking forward to initial tests.
The price for the 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD is currently 999,- Euro. The Nikon version should be available from September 4th - the Canon version shortly after.
