Tamron announces the world's first zoom lens with 16.6x magnification for mirrorless APS-C cameras, according to the manufacturer. It is also the first time that one of their optics will appear for the Fujifilm X-mount in addition to Sony E-mount. The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 covers a KB-equivalent focal length range of approximately 27mm to 450mm and offers a maximum magnification of 1:2.

The autofocus system is based on a linear motor with VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) technology, which is said to act exceptionally quietly. At wide angle, the shortest focusing distance is 0.15m. The superzoom features Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization. The diameter of the filter thread is 67 mm, as with other Tamron lenses for mirrorless system cameras. Details on the optical construction or an indication of the weight are still pending.
The market launch is still planned for 2021, a price is not mentioned for the Tamron 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD.
