Today, Sony introduces the new Sony FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS in its G Master series. This mid-telephoto macro lens is compatible with Alpha E-mount cameras and achieves 1.4x magnification to bring even small, distant subjects closer. In combination with an optional teleconverter (sold separately), the lens offers up to 2.8x magnification. In addition to macro photography, the lens is also suitable for portrait or wedding photography.

An integrated optical image stabilizer, said to be specially developed for macro photography, precisely compensates for shake (up/down/left/right) and front/back camera shake, according to Sony.
Four XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors are designed to ensure fast, precise, and quiet lens drive; according to the manufacturer, the autofocus is said to respond up to 1.9 times faster than previous models. The minimum focusing distance is 0.26 m.
The lens features three special focus functions: "Full-Time DMF" allows for immediate manual focusing (MF) by rotating the focus ring, even in AF (autofocus) mode; the "Focus Mode" allows for instant switching between AF and MF; the "sliding focus ring" offers the FULL MF mode, which is linked to the distance and magnification scales.
The circular 11-blade aperture creates spherical bokeh. A dedicated aperture ring offers fast and direct control over aperture settings (de-clickable option).
The optical construction of the Sony FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS utilizes two XA (extreme aspherical) lenses and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to achieve high resolution from the center to the edge of the image and reduce chromatic and other aberrations. Thanks to "Nano AR Coating II," flare and ghosting are suppressed in backlit conditions.
For reliable outdoor use, the lens is dust and moisture resistant. It weighs 646 g and measures 81.4 x 147.9 mm.
Price and Availability
The new Sony FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS will cost 1,599 Euros and will be available from the end of October 2025.
