This week, this year&s Oscar nominations were announced. As always, with some surprises - for example, the name Denis Villeneuve is missing from the list of director candidates. However, his "Dune" remake was nominated in 10 categories, including Best Cinematography. Only the Netflix production "The Power of the Dog" has received more nominations, 12 of them. ![]() Notable among the nominees is the Danish film "Flee," which is nominated for Best Documentary, Best Animated Feature and Best International Film - something that has never happened before. "Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom" by Pawo Choyning Dorji is also the first time a film from Buthan has managed to get an Oscar nomination. But not only that - it is also the director&s first film ever. It was shot with only one camera, a Canon C300 Mark II according to IMDB (it is said to have been solar-powered).
Speaking of cameras, of the five films nominated in the cinematography category, four were shot on ARRI, the fifth on Panavision 35mm. The 94th Academy Awards will be presented on March 27.
