2020 was a truly special film year due to the Corona crisis - only a few films premiered in theaters in the traditional way, many film releases (as well as the major film festivals) only took place online on a streaming portal (
much to the powerless annoyance of the cinema operators ) or were postponed altogether.
Nevertheless, film critic David Ehrlich has once again compiled his 25 favorite films of the year in the form of a supercut. His selection ranges from Hollywood hits to rather unknown films, he presents among others scenes from the movies Time, Minari, Bacurau, Miss Americana, Borat 2, Mank and Emma. If you want more, you can find supercuts of his Tpo 25 films of the last years on Ehrlich&s
website.
If you get the urge to watch a certain movie, you can check at a site like
who-streams-it, if the movie is currently online somewhere. It is this particular year it is even sooner possible than in previous years to see a new (Hollywood) movie at home - for example,
Christopher Nolan&s Tenet already ran on German television on ZDF A premiere for such a young top Hollywood film, which goes to the usual exploitation chain quite again. Thus, other 2020 films are also already on TV or even online, for example on Netflix, Amazon or other services, such as "Knives Out", "Mank", "Borat 2" or "Tenet".
Which of all the films of 2020 will get an Oscar, however, will be revealed this year later than usual, because the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has postponed the award ceremony of the Oscars is the Corona crisis by 2 months from February 28 to April 25, 2021.
