The most spectacular lens at NAB 2025 was undoubtedly the one on display at the DZO-Film booth. Behind the somewhat complicated name "X-Tract Probe Zoom Periscope 360°" lies a periscope lens from DZO-Film's popular X-Tract series.
Currently, there seems to be only one other periscope design worldwide – from Panavision – which is not available for purchase but only for rent. This makes the DZO Film periscope the only purchasable lens that is designed as an 18-28mm F8 macro zoom and, in our opinion, has been very cleverly designed.
A total of four motors can be attached to the X-Tract Probe Zoom Periscope 360° to remotely control both zoom and exposure parameters, as well as the rotation if required. This opens up an enormous range of creative possibilities, especially since the tip of the periscope has also been made waterproof. We are already very much looking forward to testing the new DZO-Film lens and exploring its potential. Hopefully more on this soon on slashCam...
The X-Tract Probe Zoom Periscope 360° should be available from June at a price below 4,000 euros.
