Announced about a year ago, the Tokina cine zoom 25-75mm T2.9 is now expected to be available soon (starting in July). The lens covers an image circle of up to 36mm diagonal, making it suitable for Super35 sensors (or even larger sensors when filming in crop modes).
The mechanical and optical characteristics are matched to the already available Tokina Cinema 50-135mm T2.9 MKII and 11- 20mm T2.9 zoom lenses with a parfocal design and low focus breathing. Focusing is manual, with a minimum distance of 74cm. The aperture is composed of nine blades. The zoom lenses are available with PL, EF, Sony E, MFT or Nikon F mount (interchangeable).
The cine zoom lens weighs about 2kg and measures about 174mm (depending on mount / specified for PL). The front diameter is 95mm, the filter diameter is 86mm. The 0.8 MOD sprockets are standard.
For ,999 (MSRP), the new Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 is available for pre-order (so the price turns out to be slightly cheaper than the originally announced ,799). (Thanks to Pillepalle for pointing this out in the forum.)
