Three new DJI drones on the way: Mini 5 Pro, Neo 2 and Avata 3

Just recently, DJI introduced the Mavic 4 Pro, and already there are rumors about the next drone updates thanks to the well-known leakers Igor Bogdanov, OsitaLV, and Jasper Ellens. A Mini 5 Pro, Neo 2, as well as Avata 3 and Matrice M400 are already in the testing phase and will probably be officially released in the coming months.

The introduction of the Mini 4 Pro was two years ago (here is our Hands-On Test), so it&s time for a technology update for the sub-250 gram drone. First photos of the new Mini 5 Pro have been around since December 2024 - now the label of the American approval authority FCC has also appeared, from which initial technical data can be taken. Accordingly, the transmission technology has been upgraded, presumably to the current Ocusync O4+ like the Mavic 4 Pro. The new system of the Mini 5 Pro is rumored to provide up to 25 km of range, which is significantly more than the 20 km of the Mini 4 Pro via O4.

Thanks to a new, significantly larger battery (4,680 mAh/33.5 Wh compared to the previous 2,590 mAh/18.96 Wh of the standard battery), the increased range of the radio transmission is paired with a longer flight time and range. The Mini 5 Pro should be able to stay in the air for a full 50 minutes instead of just 34 minutes. Fortunately, the charging time will be reduced by using the new 65W charger as a replacement for the old 30W version. DJI seems to have identified the obstacle detection system as another important point for improvements - as with the Mavic 4 Pro - the Mini 5 Pro also seems to have LiDAR, which would be particularly useful to avoid accidents in poor lighting conditions.
It is expected that DJI will introduce the Mini 5 Pro in September, which would be exactly 2 years after the last model update. Until then, we will probably see a number of other pictures and data.
DJI Avata 2 Leak
DJI Avata 3
According to OsitaLV, the new version of the FPV drone Avata 3 will get an improved, larger sensor than the Avata 2, which was introduced about a year ago, i.e. larger than 1/1.3" and can even be seen on a first video:
The Selfie-Drohne Neo would also be 1 year old in September, and in fact, the drone specialist also discovered a small drone in the leaked video of the Avata 3, which looks suspiciously like a prototype of a new version of the Neo.
DJI Matrice M400
And an upgrade of the Enterprise drone Matrice M350 is also imminent, the new model, called M400A, is said to have better sensors, among other things.
