Filter specialist Tiffen has introduced two new filter sets for DJI&s new
Mavic 3 drone. One kit includes three neutral density and polarizing filters, and the second includes six. Drone photography sometimes has the problem of having to use a small aperture or low exposure time in strong sunlight to avoid overexposing images. But this leads to choppy appearing movements and unnaturally high sharpness.
Tiffen ND and PL filter set
The remedy is promised by ND filter sets such as the one from Tiffen, which reduce the incidence of light and allow larger exposure times and apertures, which should result in better-looking images. Polarizing filters allow control of reflections and reduce glare. Neutral density/polarizing filters (ND/PL filters) combine these two filter effects into one, and thus have the properties of a circular polarizing filter in addition to those of a neutral density filter. This means that, if necessary, two filters do not have to be used on top of each other for both functions.
Tiffen filter with Mavic 3
The two new kits from Tiffen each have an ND4/PL, an ND8/PL and an ND16/PL filter in common, which reduce the incidence of light by 2.3 and 4 f-stops respectively. The larger filter kit also offers three additional neutral density filters (ND4, ND6 and ND8) without the polarizing filters. The filters are made of optical glass with waterproof and scratch-resistant multi-coating, which is said to reduce reflections and maintain clarity and color fidelity. The filter rings are made of aluminum, have a rectangular shape.
Tiffen ND Filter Set
Tiffen offers the large filter set (ND4/PL, ND8/PL, ND16/PL, ND4, ND6, ND8) for around , and the small one (ND4/PL, ND8/PL, ND16/PL) for around . Both sets come in their own metal case for protection and transport. However, those who bought their Mavic 3 in the Fly More or Cine Premium Combo already have an included ND filter set (ND4/8/16/32), the latter even has additional ND filter sets (ND64/128/256/512).
